Summary Clash by Night
His world rocked, Kovacs requests a dipper to help him sew up the Bancroft case quickly. Ortega races to identify the mystery woman from Fight Drome.
Kovacs learns that his sister was the responsible for the death of the Envoys by the Protectorate. Further, the ghost walker works for her. Rei threatens his friends to force Kovacs to close the Bancroft's case. He uses a dipper to bring Ava Elliot to help him to convince Bancroft who the guilty is. He keeps Ortega far from him breaking her feelings but she feels that something is wrong. Ortega decides to seek out who the mysterious woman that saved them from Fight Drome and she meets an employee of Pyschlosec to put her in.
Synopsis Clash by Night
S1 E8Kovas is stunned that Rei killed Quell Falconer. Rei says the two of them should be together. She used the other sleeves to interact, afraid how he would react. Kovacs puts a blade to her throat, but Rei is unrepentant, her sisterly love is too strong.
Ortega is bloody but ok, she sees Prescott on the street. Prescott urges her to forget about everything. Everyone looks at Ortega as she goes to her desk, she weeps as she sees Abboud's empty chair. She says Kovacs is missing, Tanaka says he left the Fightdrome with someone. Tanaka says she is on unpaid leave until the Fightdrome incident is resolved, he gives her 15 minutes to go.
Rei gives Kovacs a drink. She wants them both to go away together but first to close the Bancroft case. She says Bancroft was drugged but Tanaka covered it up, Rei wants Kovacs to frame someone for the killing. Leung the Ghostwalker arrives, he works for her. She threatens to have Ortega and Elliott sent to VR Clinics like he was tortured in. Rei is a super rich industrial tycoon, a Meth.
Ortega goes to Mickey the tech, she wants to know who the female Ninja was, he agrees to research begrudgingly.
Leung gets religious in the elevator with Kovacs. He sees Rei as a living God, and forces Kovacs to put on a black hood.
Mickey shows Ortega Kovacs walking down a street. Leung brings him to a confused man, who will be a "dipper". Leung sees Ortega coming and tells Kovacs to get rid of her. Kovacs meets Ortega in a crowd, she hugs him but he is cold and distant. Ortega is confused, and asks who the woman was. Kovacs puts her down and says it's over between them, he leaves her.
Poe teaches Lizzie how to throw knives, to empower her. Kovacs and his dipper arrive. The dipper says he is Ava Elliott, Elliott's wife in a male body. Ava is a computer hacker. Vernon Elliott is confused. The Eliotts get to see Lizzie training. Ava gets into the VR Construct, Lizzie recognizes her and they hug. Vernon also comes in for a family reunion. Lizzie shows off her handgun skills.
Ava is upset with Kovacs and Poe, but Kovacs needs her help. Kovacs spreads a cache of old stacks on the table, from the Envoys who died at Stronghold. They were infected with Rawlings. He tells the Elliott's to use the stacks.
Poe goes to play poker with his AI pal. He loses Lizzie in an all-in bet, then the other card player dies gasping.
The Elliott's create a file with the stack contents and clips from the Bancroft Fightdrome video.
Kovacs goes to the Bancrofts and has everyone in his study; Prescott, Tanaka, Isaac, Miriam, Rei as the snake lady. Kovacs starts his report. He displays a faked video that shows Bancroft going into a XXX club Prick Up. Tanaka says the club was recently shutdown due to Rawlings and a core meltdown (the poker player with Poe). Then Kovacs shows a faked invoice and says Prescott wore a blonde sleeve and was raped and killed by Bancroft, he pays well for killing hookers. Prescott says she didn't, Bancroft can't recall but it seems plausible. Prescott then supposedly infected him with a malware, so Laurens wanted to kill himself before his backup upload was infected. She guided his hand on the gun and pulled the trigger. Prescott is arrested, but Bancroft wants it covered up. Laurens says Prescott's career is over and all will be taken from her. Tanaka takes her away.
Kovacs asked for his pardon and pay. Bancroft is sad how it ended but said he will make the arrangements. Rei congratulates his play. Kovacs imagines Quell again, sad that Rei won.
Ortega walks in the rain. Mickey sends her a gene-map, identity unknown. She goes to a street noodle stand, she forces a man there to help her.
Kovacs is in Bancrofts study. He starts thinking and connecting the dots. He takes his pay and leaves.
Ortega is led to the Psychatech clone facility by the man, he opens a secure door for her. It is Rei's cloning room. The man leaves locking her in. A nude Rei wakes and breaks out of a pod, grabbing a shard and walking toward Ortega, who draws her gun. Rei says Ortega is just Tak's girl of the week. Rei stabs Ortega who manages to kill Rei. Two more Rei's come at her, then more, she shoots them all. One more comes with a katana, Ortega uses her cyborg arm to good effect. The Rei's never answered who they were. A door opens, a child is crying , Rei's little girl sleeve. Ortega comforts the child.
