Summary Fallen Angel
While Kovacs tracks down a man who sent Bancroft a death threat, Lt. Ortega bends the rules to keep tabs on his whereabouts.
Kovacs accepts Bancroft's offer and begins the investigation using videos Bancroft had received threatening his life. He identifies the serial number of a weapon in a video and tracks down the owner, a former military soldier. Meanwhile Lt. Ortega uses a device to follow Kovacs's movements and whereabouts.

S1 E2Kovacs philosophizes about peace. He recalls a time he and his dad found a floating female corpse while fishing. Then he dreams of the Stronghold battle.
The hotel clerk and a woman enter his bedroom, to bring him to Bancroft.
Kristen Ortega is wakened by her AI named Hawkeye. She goes for a sparring workout with her partner Abboud. He teases her interest for Kovacs and urges her to forget him. Hawkeye updates her on Kovacs' location.
Ms. Prescott brings Kovacs to a sleeve dealer for high end customers. They also grow clones for the Bancrofts. New Miriam and New Laurens appear to be sleeping. The real Bancrofts arrive. Kovacs starts his investigation. Just before being murdered Laurens had signed a large trade deal in Osaka. Bancroft stresses he didn't kill himself and that Kovacs needs to solve the case in time allotted or go back on ice.
Kristen arrives, they greet each other with barbs.
The hotel clerk Poe talks with other AI at a virtual poker game. They chat about humans, a lesser form of life.
Kristen goes to work, late, Abboud asks where she was. Capt. Tanaka tells her to handle a bereaved complainant, Mrs. Henchy. The woman's dead daughter's body is missing after two months. Even the stack is gone. The mother is distraught, Ortega hugs her.
Poe helps Kovacs use a computer to review interrogations and threats Bancroft received. He filters out over 3000 files to a few. Then notices one gun wielding threat seems to match the actual murder scenario.
On the street Kovacs finds posters with a Quell Falconer image. He goes to an old office labeled Interstellar Protectorate. The owner inside made the threat, an ex marine traced by the serial number of the weapon seen in the video message. After a short fight Kovacs disarms and ties up the man, Vernon Elliot. His wife is doing 30 years time for hacking. Kovacs sees a VR headset and puts it on. He travels to a surreal city, a woman whimpers. He asks what happens then a ear piercing sound, he takes off the headset. Elliot says the woman is his daughter Lizzie, who had been seeing Bancroft, somehow her stack is stuck in a loop. Once again the men fight and Elliot is tied up again, but refuses to talk, Kovacs leaves him something for the damage.
Kovacs goes to a museum showing the Falconer uprising. A young girl approaches and chats. He scares her off.
Kristen goes home, her mother is upset with her police career and lapsed Catholicism. Her phone rings, the AI says Kovacs is in Licktown, she curses.
Kovacs goes to the Jack it Off. He hands over his gun and goes to a private room. He pays for a hooker. He asks about Lizzie Elliot, pretending to be Ava Elliot the mother. The hooker, Anemone, says Lizzie had on regular, a Meth. Anemone also has a regular who chokes her, she says she will ask around. Sometimes rich customers kill hookers but then give them upgraded sleeves.
Leaving the whorehouse Tak confronts him at gunpoint. But then a large man with spinal implants takes out Tak and starts throwing him around, but is eventually subdued. The police arrive and arrest Kovacs. Ortega sees him in the cell, she wonders why he is working for Bancroft. Kovacs is released.
Ortega goes to the morgue. A dead blonde is in a rack, Kristen tells the corpse her mother loves her.
At the hotel Poe offers to be Kovacs partner. In the penthouse suite Miriam Bancroft is waiting. She wants to know his progress. She begins to undress him. She says she secretes a genetically modified aphrodisiac when aroused and strips. They have sex.
In the morgue a tech is surprised to find Mary Lou Henchy on a slab, her neck cut open.
Kovacs lies awake post coitus pondering.
